What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping Therapy is used to help manage pain, local inflammation, blood flow and is also used to support relaxation and wellbeing. It is also used as a form of deep tissue massage. Cupping Therapy is a process which the Osteopath will put special cups onto your skin for a few minutes to create a suction. There are two types of Cupping Therapy. These are "Dry" and "Wet". Benefits of Cupping Therapy

  • May release muscle tension which can improve overall blood flow. 

  • May promote cell repair in the body. 

  • Can improve the circulation of body fluids (lymph). 

  • Helps the body to heal and relax improving wellbeing overall. 

Possible side effects of Cupping Therapy

​As with the majority of treatments there are possible side effects of Cupping Therapy it is important to be aware of. Some of these are as follows:

  • Bruises

  • Mild Discomfort

Before and After a Cupping Session

  • Ensure you drink plenty of water both before and after the session to ensure you stay hydrated. 

  • Do not do vigorous exercise after a Session.

  • Try to stay as warm and avoid wind as this may trigger stiffness. 

  • If you have previously tried cupping therapy and have experienced discomfort do let us know before the session so that we can modify our way of treatment to ensure you feel more comfortable with effective results . ⠀
